Bus conductor in fatal St Ann crash charged
ST ANN, Jamaica – The driver of the bus which was involved in a deadly crash in St Ann last Friday, has been charged.
Thirty-six-year-old bus conductor Rohan Robinson of Galina, St Mary, has been charged with five counts of vehicular manslaughter, driving without a driver’s license, no insurance coverage, and no road license.
Robinson, who surrendered to the police on Sunday after fleeing the scene of the deadly crash along the Llandovery main road on Friday, May 27, is expected to appear in the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court later this week.
Robinson was charged following a question and answer session in the presence of his attorney Ernest Smith on Monday, May 30.
A policewoman, who is said to be the owner of the bus, could also face charges.
Dead are Kareen Johnson, Kevin Minto, Odain Larry, and Charles Anthony Jones who was the designated driver.
The fifth person is yet to be identified.
The five were killed and several others, including students, injured after the driving shaft on the bus reportedly broke. This reportedly caused the bus to overturn.
The driver of a Rav4, which was hit by the bus, was also treated at hospital.
