St James U-13 quarter-finals get under way today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary and Granville Primary will be seeking wins this morning as the quarter-finals of the St James Football Association’s VMBS Under-13 competition get under way with a double-header at the UDC field, starting at 10:00 am.
Twelve teams advanced from the first round, but defending champions Catherine Hall were both among the dozen failing to get into the top two in the first-round group, and new champions will be crowned in the final set for June 17.
The qualifiers will play in four groups of three teams each, with only the winners advancing to the semi-finals set for June 14.
Montego Bay Prep school are the only first-time quarter-finalists after finishing runners-up in Zone F to Irwin Primary, and will take on former champions Corinaldi Avenue in the first game today set to start at 10:00 am.
Zone C winners Granville Primary, another former champions and Lethe All-Age will meet in the second game scheduled for 11:15am.
Tomorrow, Anchovy Primary will meet Irwin Primary in the first game followed by Mt Salem Primary against Glendevon Primary.
