‘Powerful’ concert on tomorrow
JULIET Holness, Member of Parliament and wife of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, is among several performers slated to appear on the 16th Powerful Women & Men Perform for Charity Show at the Wolmers’ Boys’ School in Kingston, on Sunday at 5:00 pm.
Also rostered are Claudja Berry-Alexander, former lead singer for Boney M; Radcliffe Lewis, former Senior Superintendent of Traffic Division; Fitz Jackson, Member of Parliament; Alando Terrelonge, Member of Parliament; Peter Champagnie, Defence Counsel; Donovan James, CEO for DHL Americas; Scatta Burrell, record producer, and Khani Condison, actor and film producer.
“We feel honoured that these persons could want to help the Mustard Seed Communities and make such an effort to join us on stage,” Thyra Heaven, founder and chair of the Powerful Women & Men Perform for Charity Show, told the
Jamaica Observer in a recent interview.
“I am excited about the this year’s show, and I am sure our patrons will have a very good time,” she continued.
First-time performers include Jacqueline Sharp, regional head for Scotiabank Caribbean North & Central, Scotiabank; Janet Farr, president of the Nurses Association of Jamaica; Audrey Tugwell Henry, senior general manager, retail banking, National Commercial Bank; Jasmine Rand, attorney who represented the Trayvon Martin family in the USA; and David Neita, attorney, motivation speaker, lecturer and poet, based in London.
Designers Keneea Linton and Dexter Huxtable have committed to providing outfits for the first time for the fashion segments.
Proceeds of the event will be donated to the Mustard Seed Communities to assist with the care of more than 400 abandoned, disabled, HIV/AIDS-affected children, and pregnant teenagers being accommodated in its 12 homes across the island.
