Audley Shaw to address Jamaicans at forum in UK
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Minister of Finance and the Public Service Audley Shaw is expected to speak at the 2016 “Outlook for the Future” forum, to be mounted by the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) and the Jamaican High Commission, in the United Kingdom.
The forum will be at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, on Wednesday, June 8 at 6:30 pm.
The annual forum, which a Jamaica National news release said was established in 2003, provides Jamaicans and other Caribbean residents in the UK Diaspora with current economic and social data, and gives them an opportunity to ask questions about the developmental directions of the Government of Jamaica.
General manager of Jamaica National, Earl Jarrett, pointed out that the forum generates frank dialogue between government officials and Jamaicans in the Diaspora, as many Jamaicans maintain investments and family relations, locally, even as they participate in the life of their adopted country.
He said: “JN continues to play a pivotal role in the lives of our nationals overseas; and, therefore, against the background of the recent budget presentation, and indications that Jamaica is on-track with its International Monetary Fund programme, we envision that a lot of interest will be generated for participation in this year’s forum.”
“Over the years, the information gleaned from ‘Outlook for the Future’ has also influenced public policy and major lifestyle decisions in Jamaica,” the JN general manager said.
The forum has been addressed by a range of Jamaican leaders in its 13 years of existence.
