JPC intensifies productivity drive
Minister of Labour and Social Security Shahine Robinson

JPC intensifies productivity drive

KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – The Jamaica Productivity Centre (JPC) will be undertaking a number of initiatives this fiscal year as it steps up its drive to build a culture of productivity among Jamaicans.

Minister of Labour and Social Security Shahine Robinson said focus will be placed on influencing behavioural change through the provision of capacity building and customised productivity solutions to private- and public-sector entities.

She said that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will be targeted through productivity audits, benchmarking information and assistance to implement recommendations.

In addition, training workshops will be staged across the island to facilitate knowledge sharing among various stakeholders.

The Labour Minister, who was making her contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, informed that the JPC will be expanding its ‘Be Productive and Prosper’ campaign, which is targeted at students.

The centre believes that inculcating a productivity culture in students across the country will allow them to become efficient and effective in their learning pursuits, while at the same time spreading the productivity message.

Robinson said the interventions “are expected to positively impact profitability, competitiveness, economic growth, job creation and wage rates”.
