MASSY DISTRIBUTION (Jamaica) LIMITED
Massy Distribution (Jamaica) Limited has a long tradition of giving back to the communities in which they operate and to nation building.
Their GSAT Bursary Programme started in 2002. The programme was a part of the Company’s effort to contribute directly to the well-being and educational development of not only its employees’ children but to those within the community in which they operate, who participated in the GSAT examination. Each year 10 bursaries are shared equally between students of the Balmagie and the St. Patrick’s Primary Schools. The Bursaries awarded to the schools have contributed significantly to preparing the children for their entry into high schools.
For the period 2002 to 2016, over 300 students have benefited from this Programme, amounting to Millions of Jamaican Dollars and according to Sharon Laidlaw, the Company’s Human Resources Director ‘It has been very fulfilling as a company to know that we are creating opportunities of advancement for these students”. This year, Massy Distribution (Jamaica) Limited has already awarded 13 students, 5 from St. Patrick’s Primary, 5 from Balmagie Primary and 3 of their employees’ children.
For Massy, they see this valuable contribution as a great way of demonstrating to our employees, our country and our children that it’s good to give back; reaching out to persons who are in need and those who need to be recognized for their achievement. Massy Distribution cares and this is just one of the ways in which they assist children to reach their full potential, while impacting in making a better Jamaica and a better world.
And this fits right into the Massy Group’s Purpose of being ‘A Force for good, creating value, transforming life’.
