There are three Plans to choose from – Sagicor Sigma Educator Standard, Premium and Platinum which offer different levels of group life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage as well as education grants.

The Education Grant:

In addition to the accumulated plan value, of up to 30% education grant, which is an additional benefit which is payable directly to a registered educational institution, locally or overseas, and is calculated as a percentage of the eligible contributions. It is payable after five years of contributing to the plan with no withdrawals over the period; calculated on the first $150,000.00 of contractual premiums per year, up to a lifetime maximum of $2.7 million. If the child does not attend university, the accumulated value of the plan will be available for withdrawal and no grant is payable.

AD&D coverage:

AD&D is payable up to a maximum of $5 million on the life of the primary unit holder (matches the accumulated value in the plan, up to the applicable cap). Group Life coverage is payable up to a maximum of $1 million.

In the event that the parent (or other sponsor) dies before the child accesses the benefits, the accumulated value of the Sigma Educator plan continues, and will be held in trust until the child is 18 years old. Once the child enrolls in a registered secondary or tertiary level institution, the accumulated plan value can be made payable to the institution.
