#NatlTrials: Ristananna Tracey wins 400mH in 54.85s
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ristananna Tracey captured the national crown of the women’s 400-metre hurdles in a time of 54.85 seconds on day two of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston, a short while ago.
Tracey, representing Sprint Tech, went out hard and finished strong to stave off the challenge of Leah Nugent (55.44s), with 2014 Commonwealth Games champion Kaliese Spencer (55.83s) being left further back in third.
The results mean that Spencer, who was favoured to make the team, could be left off the ticket to Rio, as Jamaica’s leading medal contender Janieve Russell is expected to secure the next spot on the trip.
Russell was unable to compete due to an injury and had earlier applied for a medical exemption.
