KINGSTON, Jamaica – Yohan Blake maintained his composure in a world-class field to win the men’s 100m national crown in 9.95 seconds on day two of the Jamaica

Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium on Friday.

After a faulty start, the officials convened for a lengthy discussion which resulted in a red card being shown to Nickel Ashmeade in lane three when the replay clearly showed that the movement came from lane one occupied by Jason Livermore.

However, after a protest from all the athletes in the event and uproar from the spectators at the National Stadium, the red card was retracted and a green card shown to the field.

Blake, the 2011 World Champion, got up well and locked horns with Ashmeade leaving the half-way mark, before edging him to cop his

second national crown.

Ashmeade was second in 9.96 seconds, while Jevaughn Minzie, also of Racers Track Club, lowered his personal best for the third time when he

finished in 10.02 seconds booking a spot to Rio.

World and Olympic champion Usain Bolt was ruled out of the event due to an injury, while Asafa Powell finished fourth in a time of 10.03 seconds.
