#NatlTrials: Danniel Thomas wins women’s shot put event
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Danniel Thomas claimed the national crown for the women’s shot put with a heave of 16.84 metres on day three of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Thomas of Kent State University won the event ahead of junior athlete Janell Fullerton of St Jago, who achieved a new personal best of 15.03m and Latifah Smith (14.25m) of Excelsior.
Thomas has already qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio, as her personal best of 17.76m achieved last year is above the required
qualifying standard of 17.75m.
