Original Train, All Correct take aim at Overnight Allowance event
What could become a quite competitive call, An Overnight Allowance event going 1,820 metres will highlight a well put together, but truncated eight-race card for today’s entertainment at Caymanas Park.
Eight will run and without even batting an eyelid, the Wayne DaCosta-trained consistent galloper All Correct looks certain to start as resounding favourite in the three-year-olds and upward event scheduled for approximately 2:15 pm, with the first post one hour earlier.
Quite a versatile sort by Storm Craft out of the Royal Minister mare Royal Pizzaz,All Correct finished second and third, respectively, in his last two efforts over shorter distances. With the journey increased and despite sharing top weight of 54 kgs with Raging Prospect, the dark bay gelding should now arrive in the nick of time in this one.
Once quite capable of winning this with the drop of the proverbial hat, Raging Prospect, has not shown the eagerness for winning races as he once did and seems to be out of depth at this level.
That aside, even though All Correct is expected to go all the way, it will be no armchair ride for jockey Omar Walker, who was aboard on his last two failed attempts. There are runners that could challenge him in deep stretch in trainer Harry Parsard’s Kiri and Original Train.
Original Train, Robert Halledeen up, looks the more likely of the Parsard runners to cause All Correct to dig deep, however Kiri at 48.5 kg with apprentice Dane Dawkins in the saddle, cannot be simply ignored.
The performance by Kiri on May 7 when finishing 3 ½ lengths third to Timeforarms andOriginal Train going 2,000 metres, is enough indication that she has the ability to show here and looks certain to be around at the finish.
The Fitzroy Glispie-trained Mom’s Student seems to be now blossoming into the promising fledgling, winning twice in her last two efforts. With her latest efforts, the Region Of Merit – The Principal chestnut filly could now use her useful form to be in the shake-up as she is ideally suited to the two-turn extended sprint. Apprentice rider Hakeem Pottinger, who was aboard her two wins, will remain in the tack.
