KINGSTON, Jamaica – Kimberly Williams made no mistakes as she comfortably defended her national title for the women’s triple jump with a leap of 14.66 metres on the final day of the Jamaica Athletics

Administrative Association (JAAA)/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) National Senior Championships at the National Stadium on Sunday.

Williams, the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion opened with leaps of 14.56m, 14.16m and 14.54m, before achieving the winning mark in a positive 2.6 metres per second wind speed.

Shanieka Thomas of the University of the West Indies (UWI) was second with a leap of 14.44m and Shardia Lawrence (13.28m) of Kansas State University third.

Both Williams and Thomas had early met the Olympic qualifying standard of 14.15 metres, but were right on form as they once again surpassed the standard on the day.

Meanwhile, Kimberly Williamson of Kansas State University won her fourth national title for the women’s high jump.

Williamson cleared the bar at 1.86 metres to win the event, but was way off the Olympic qualifying standard of 1.93 metres.

She won ahead of Saniel Atkinson-Grier (1.83m) of Altis and Tomoya Walters (1.70m).
