Bamboo whips Palladium
LUCEA, Hanover — Bamboo FC won the Hanover Football Association’s Charley’s JB Rum/Captain’s Bakery & Grill Ltd Major League title after beating Grand Palladium FC 4-0 in the finals played at Watson Taylor Park in Lucea on Saturday.
Conrod Reid scored twice for Bamboo FC, who will return to the Western Confederation Super League after a four season break, joining Faulkland FC of St James, Three Miles River of Westmoreland and Holland United of Trelawny as the promoted teams.
In the first game of the double header, Hopewell Chargers came from a goal down to beat Logwood 3-1 in the Division One finals as both teams advanced to the Major League next season.
Tevin Guthrie had scored in the 20th minute to give Logwood FC the lead which they held until the 76th minute when Hopewell equalised before two quick goals; a defenders goal in the 83rd minute gave them the lead and a third from Damian Alexander, in the 85th minute secured the win.
In the Major League final, Bamboo FC ran rough shod over first time finalists Grand Palladium with Romario Distin scoring in the 19th minute, Reid in the 70th and 90th and Daniel Scott in the 80th minute.
