Barbican, Duhaney Park to contest KSAFA U-17 final today
Barbican FC and Duhaney Park FC will contest the Bill Express-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-17 football final at the Barbican playing field today following semi-final victories against Waterhouse FC and Santos FC, respectively, on Sunday.
In the evening’s double-header programme, also played at the Barbican playing field to decide the finalists, Barbican FC defeated Waterhouse FC 5-4 on penalties after full and extra time failed to break the deadlock.
In the opening game, Duhaney Park FC disposed of Santos FC 3-1 with goals from Jahvon Bailey in the eighth, Kemar Reid in the 96th and a Santos FC own-goal, while Javine Brown replied for Santos FC in minute 18.
Although reaching the final, Barbican have failed to score except from the spot and also booked their semi-final berth by trundling Whitfield Town FC 3-1 on penalties, while Duhaney Park FC edged Harbour View FC 1-0 on a third-minute strike from Kemar Reid.
In the other semi-final match-up, Santos removed Maxfield Park FC 3-0, while Waterhouse edged Tivoli Gardens FC 2-1.
Defending champions Cavalier SC, who dominated the KSAFA Under-17 for several seasons, failed on this occasion to reach the quarter-final stages as they finished third to let through Barbican.
