ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Spanish Town Police are viewing Saturday’s seizure of 103 rounds of ammunition in the Top Bank community of Spanish Town, St Catherine as the equivalent of more than 100 lives saved.

“If we look at each round as being able to take a life, over one hundred rounds seized means over one hundred lives saved,” stated Senior Superintendent of Police Anthony Powell, who heads the St Catherine North Division.

Reports are that about 5:15 pm, an operation was underway in the area when a premises was searched and one hundred 5.56, two 7.62 and one 12 gauge shotgun round of ammunition were seized.

Powell said the seizure is part of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s anti-gang initiative. “This is an area that we are closely monitoring and our aim is to disarm these criminals and continue to build safer communities,” he added.

While no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure, the lawmen have launched a probe into the incident.
