Hot Spur, Kool Kat win Capital/Observer Tipsters’ second quarter

Leslie McLean (Hot Spur) and Ruddy Allen (Kool Kat) emerged the second-quarter winners in the 2016 Capital Betting and Wagering Limited/Jamaica Observer Tipsters’ Competition.

McLean took home the ‘Most Wins’ category for the second consecutive quarter, while newcomer Allen finally showed some ability by coming out on top in the ‘Monetary’ category. Both tipsters received $10,000 for their efforts.

McLean won the second quarter with 148 winners, to take the incentive for the quarter. Donald Bahadur (Sir Donald) was 10 winners behind in second place on 138, while Mark Orelue (The Lark) on 137 was just an inch away in third and also ahead of Mario McCulloch in fourth on 136.

“Well, it is a good feeling knowing that I have won the first two quarters of the competition.

“I have been tipping well of late and now I am eyeing the third quarter to make it three from three.

“Last year, I was coming from a deficit of 15 winners and lost the overall championships by only three winners. But setting the fractions at the get-go, I am expecting to be in front at the end of the competition, McLean told the Jamaica Observer.

Allen, who finished second in the first quarter, ended the second quarter with $26,599 to take the incentive. Bahadur was second with $23,874 and Orelue third with $16,123.
