One Denham Town escapee recaptured, 8 others on the run
ONE of nine prisoners who escaped from the Denham Town Police lock-up in Kingston Western on Sunday is back in police custody following his recapture in the parish of Manchester yesterday.
The prisoner, 19-year-old Oshane Morgan, who goes by the moniker “Grey Beard”, was held at about 7:45 am at the Nashville bus park in the parish by lawmen who were on patrol in the area.
Morgan, who hails from Denham Town, was facing charges of robbery and illegal possession of a firearm at the time of his escape. He is now likely to be slapped with an additional charge of escaping custody.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, Morgan and the other eight prisoners were discovered missing during a routine check of the cell. It is alleged that the men escaped the facility by cutting a ventilation grille.
The other eight escapees who remained at large up until press time last night were:
• Theodore Lawrence, 23, otherwise called ‘Theo’, of Baugh Path, Tivoli Gardens, who is charged with murder;
• Kevin Thomas, 26, otherwise called ‘Tatan’ of McKenzie Drive, Tivoli Gardens, who is facing charges of wounding with intent and shooting with intent;
