Two killed in Drapers, Portland
DRAPERS, Portland — The quiet community of Drapers Heights in East Portland was shocked with the murder of two men around 4 o’clock yesterday morning, police confirmed.
Dead are Asan Anderson, 43, a naturalised Dutch citizen who lived at Drapers Heights, and Leroy ‘Vegie’ McKoy, 48, from White River, Buff Bay also in Portland.
Police said that Anderson returned to Jamaica four days ago to attend the funeral of a family member.
According to the police, four gunmen, who travelled aboard a grey Toyota Axio motor car, waited outside a house until the occupants arrived home. When they arrived, the gunmen approached them, forced them inside where they shot Anderson four times in the face, three times in the chest, and also shot him in his hands and feet. Anderson’s wife was not harmed, as she ran from the scene.
The gunmen then shot McKoy who was sitting in his pickup truck parked outside.
Meanwhile, the Buff Bay police are seeking the help of the public in identifying the partially decomposed body of an elderly man found along Horse Road Beach in Buff Bay.
Persons smelt a foul odour about 3:45 Friday and called the police. It is said that an elderly man was seen walking along the beach during last week and it is suspected that the body is his, as he is suspected to have drowned.
The Portland police is asking anyone with information, or who have missing relatives to contact the Buff Bay police at 996-1497.
