HURRICANE WATCH: Canadian High Commission, US Embassy closed Monday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Canadian High Commission and the United States Embassy today announced that their offices will be closed in anticipation of the passage of Hurricane Matthew.
The Canadian High Commission will be closed on Monday and reopen Tuesday unless further advised.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy said it will not be conducting business on Monday and Tuesday. “Visa interviews will not be conducted and routine American Citizen Services appointments will not be held on these days,” the embassy said in a release.
The US Embassy also advised individuals who have nonimmigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for these days to reschedule their appointments by visiting the appointment scheduling website at ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/niv.
Additionally, applicants who had immigrant visa appointments scheduled for those days will be contacted by the Consular Section and informed of their new appointment date, the embassy said.
