Black Mattic does 3310 Rock
Singjay Black Mattic said his month-old single 3310 Rock is gaining musical strides.
“It is an uptempo dance song that has a fusion of dancehall and Afro-centro beat. The song is comparing the different dances and lifestyles between now and back when the cellphone Nokia 3310 was released, hence the name 3310 Rock,” he toldJamaica Observer.
The durable Nokia 3310 was very popular in Jamaica more than decade ago.
3310 Rock is produced by United Kingdom-based OGE Beats.
“I really want to the most prominent dance song in the industry. I want it to break new grounds,” he said.
In addition to promoting the single, the entertainer is also promoting his sophomore album called Reloaded.
Released in July of this year, the album feature tracks such as Love Story, Without Dancehall, and Working People. The last is a collab with Bugle and Raging Fyah.
“A lot of people may wonder why I opt to do an album, but I am thinking internationally. People need more than one song to evaluate an artiste and it also helps to build my musical rèsumè,” he said.
Black Mattic, whose real name is Kenich Lee, grew up in tough inner-city community of Waterhouse, St Andrew, before migrating to the States in 1999.
He gained recognition internationally after releasing his single Superstar in 2014. He teamed up with MTV (Mike Leonard) to produce the video, which racked in over a million views.
