Happy Shopping
What was once taboo has now become a global phenomenon. Online shopping has all but taken over the internet, with massive sales happening around the clock and all year long. The ability to shop for almost any item from anywhere in the world is a convenience not easily matched. Now there are several ways to purchase goods and even hire services online and then have them delivered to your door in a matter of hours.
A survey done by Amazon pointed out that consumers bought more than half their purchases for the year online. This has been a steady increase of 47% in 2014. According to the Wall Street Journals writer Laura Stevens “The survey polled shoppers make at least two online purchases in a three-month period, excluding groceries.” Consumers who were once apprehensive about using the internet and computers to shop online are now using everything from tablets to smart phones.
“There’s been a dramatic shift,” says Steve Osburn, who advises retailers on supply-chain issues for Kurt Salmon. “Over time, people are getting more and more comfortable” shopping online, he says. Shoppers are finding it easier and more comfortable to browse, deliberate and shop from the comfort of their home or office. The conventional way of going to a store takes time and gas, also many Jamaican shoppers admit some items are simply not readily available and require special order.
