NMIA runway reopened after lighting malfunction
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The runway at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), which was closed due to lighting malfunction last night, has been reopened.
Airport authorities this morning advised that the runway was reopened at 6:00 am. It was closed about 11:00 pm Wednesday to facilitate emergency maintenance works on the airfield lighting system.
“Passengers scheduled to travel this morning are being asked to contact the reservations office of their respective airlines to confirm their flight schedule.
“Similarly, passengers booked on cancelled flights from the previous evening are advised to contact their travel agent or the airline’s customer care number for rebooking options,” NMIA said in a release.
NMIA Airports Limited apologised for any inconvenience caused by the sudden but necessary repair work.
