Rifle found after off-duty cop ambushed in St Catherine
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — An off-duty policeman was on Monday ambushed by gunmen in Grange Lane, St Catherine, where he stopped to assess a fault in his motor vehicle.
The lawman, who escaped uninjured, was reportedly driving through the area about 4:20 pm when his vehicle developed mechanical difficulties and he stopped.
Upon exiting the vehicle, he was fired on by two armed men.
A team of officers, who were said to be in the area, went to the assistance of their colleague and the men fled.
The lawmen subsequently combed the area and found a bag containing a .22 AR7 Explore Rifle and seven .22 rounds of ammunition.
No one was injured during the incident.
