What gadget tops your Christmas wishlist?

Christmas wish List?

Christmas day is fast approaching and DigIT wanted to find out the top gadgets on the wish list of Jamaicans.

We asked 100 people to share the number-one gadget on their Christmas wish list and, as you might have guessed, more than half the respondents said they wanted one of the latest smartphones available.

Others were interested in laptops and tablets, smartwatches, smart televisions, cameras, drones, and entertainment devices. The results of our poll may be helpful in choosing a great gadget gift this Christmas.

Here are the results:

1. Smartphones

“My phone is waaay outdated and I’m pretty sure it’s on its last days.” — Latoya

Apple and its main rival Samsung were the preferred brands for respondents who desired a new smartphone this festive season. And it comes as no surprise that 32 of the 63 people in this category wanted an iPhone. To be specific, 24 indicated that the brand new iPhone 7 would be perfect, while the other eight would settle for the previous iPhone 6s.

Meanwhile, 16 respondents desired a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, while two wanted the plain S7. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was the choice of only one person.

The new Google Pixel smartphone and LG V10 were top on the list of one person each.

2. Laptops and Tablets

2. Laptops and Tablets

“The Surface Pro would be perfect. Being a laptop and tablet in one suits my needs.” — Kim

‘Laptops and tablets’ was the second most popular category, with 13 people desirous of a brand new laptop, tablet or a device that could function as both.

The Microsoft Surface Pro topped this category as the leading choice for four respondents, while only two said they wanted a MacBook Pro.

Another three said any HP laptop would do, two indicated that they wanted an Android tablet, and one chose an iPad.

Rounding out the category, an artist said he’d love a Wacom Cintiq 27QHD touch to facilitate his profession.

3. Smart TVs

3. Smart TVs

“Nothing would give me greater pleasure than stepping into my room and seeing a brand new Samsung Smart TV hanging on my wall this Christmas.” — Stacy

Our eight respondents, who made smart TVs the third most popular category, had only one device in mind: a Samsung curved 4k UHD smart TV.

And who can blame them? With incredible screen resolution, off-angle viewing and easy connection to your mobile devices, DigIT definitely understands why this device is a must on people’s lists.

4. Smartwatches

4. Smartwatches

“I have every possible gadget I need, so I’d choose an Apple smartwatch as an access point for all of them.”— Kimani

In the smartwatch category, Apple was the desired device for three respondents and one each said either a Gopro or Movado smartwatch would really make Christmas feel special.

While the Fitbit isn’t really classified as a smartwatch, two respondents said they were eyeing this device to aid with meeting their weight-loss goals in 2017.

5. Cameras, Drones and Entertainment Devices

5. Cameras, Drones and Entertainment Devices

“A Sony A63000 4K camera would give me a big push in my profession.”— Joel

A total of three people each selected the categories of cameras, drones and entertainment devices. For cameras, our respondents desired a Nikon D8, Sony A63000 4K or a Canon DSLR.

“A drone… Any drone, as long as I can use it to spy.”— Kerry

Then there were the drones. Besides Kerry and another respondent who gave no specifics, one respondent (a videographer) wanted a DJI phantom3 4K drone.

“You know that little round thing that I can tell which song to play? It works with Bluetooth too…that one” — Junior

Junior and another respondent were interested in the Amazon Echo dot as a source of entertainment. The other entertainment device desired by one respondent was an Xbox One.

BONUS TIP:

BONUS TIP:

Whether you’re looking for a high-end device or gadgets with simple functionalities this Christmas, be wise about your purchases.

Stick to the brands you know and trust; explore all available options. check for reviews and see what others think. and don’t be penny wise and pound foolish — trading on quality to save money is definitely not recommended in technology.
