THE Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), on warrants, yesterday arrested four members of the Traffic Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The arrests, INDECOM said, are in connection to the discharge of firearms at an event in Crescent District, Spanish Town, on January 24 of this year, in which Romeo Marks was fatally shot.

“Constables Dumar Ducally, Leeshawn Billings, Noel Ingram and Davion King were arrested and charged for unlawfully discharging their firearms in a public place and wilfully making a false statement to mislead the commission,” INDECOM said. It was not clear, however, if the police have started an investigation into the death of Marks.

The four constables, who were yesterday taken before Parish Judge T Carr in the St Catherine Parish Court, were each granted bail in the sum of $100,000, with one surety.

They are to return to court on March 6, 2017, but the court placed a stop order on them at all ports.

It is alleged that the constables were in attendance at a party in Crescent on January 24 when a song selection triggered the support of patrons, some of whom fired their weapons in a gun salute.

It was later discovered that Marks was shot. He subsequently died.
