Factories Corporation gets new MD
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Factories Corporation of Jamaica (FCJ), Lyttleton ‘Tanny’ Shirley has announced the appointment of Dr Donald Farquharson as the new managing director of the organization as of December 1, 2016.
In a statement today Shirley said that Farquharson has served in positions at the highest level of the public and private sectors for over 25 years.
“Over this period, he has held both management and technical positions. These positions include chief information officer for Jamaica Public Service, chief executive officer of Kingston Public and Jubilee hospitals, regional director of the South East Regional Health Authority and senior director special services of the Ministry of Health,” Shirley said in his statement.
Shirley indicated that, “Dr Farquharson is charged with the responsibility of leading the transformation of the FCJ”, adding that he was confident, that the new managing director, “has the requisite expertise and management capabilities to resolve the matters of concerns that have been raised recently in the public domain”.
Shirley says the board of directors is committed to fulfilling the mandate, issued by the Prime Minister Andrew Holness, to realign the functions of the FCJ to efficiently deliver on its mandate.
