Vasciannie appointed UTech president
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The University of Technology (UTech) today announced that Stephen Vasciannie has been appointed president.
In a release UTech said that the appointment will be for a period of three years, commencing January 2, 2017.
As president, Vasciannie will carry out the functions of chief academic and administrative officer. He will be principally responsible for implementing policies, and will exercise such executive powers as necessary for the proper administration and operation of the university.
Formerly Deputy Solicitor-General and principal of the Norman Manley Law School, Vasciannie served as Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States from 2012 up to July 17, 2015, when he stepped down to return to academic life.
