Red Stripe wants tertiary students to improve Drink Right App
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Red Stripe is pushing its Drink Right message through a competition to redevelop its mobile application Drink Right 2.0.
The competition, which was launched on Thursday, encourages students of three tertiary institutions — University of Technology, University of the West Indies and Northern Caribbean University — to produce an improved responsible-drinking App.
“We’re challenging our brightest minds to come up with the most creative and practical improvements to the Drink Right mobile application,” said Dianne Ashton-Smith, Red Stripe’s head of corporate relations.
“The goal is simple. We want a redesigned App that is sleek, useful and capable of driving our responsible drinking campaign more effectively in the online space. Ultimately what we aim to do is expand the Drink Right movement, winning more Jamaicans for this most important cause,” she added.
The competition offers an attractive prize of up to $270,000 in scholarship funding and an internship with a local technology firm.
“If you’re a student pursuing studies in any information technology discipline this competition is for you. We’re also encouraging entries from students who may not be studying IT but who have skills in mobile application development,” Ashton-Smith said.
