Foreign Affairs minister offers condolences in wake of Fort Lauderdale shooting
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, has expressed condolences to the Government and people of the United States, in relation to the shooting incident at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida this afternoon.
Speaking by telephone with Eric Khant, Chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy in Kingston the minister expressed regret on behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica and conveyed thoughts and prayers to the affected families.
Minister Johnson Smith also spoke with Consul General of Jamaica in Miami, Franz Hall, who has begun checks to ascertain whether any Jamaicans were affected in the shooting incident.
