Transport Authority offers extension on Road Licence applications
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Transport Authority says that it will be granting a further extension until Tuesday, January 31 for submission of new road licence applications.
The Authority says that the extension has been granted based on the numerous requests from various applicants who are awaiting police records and is in keeping with the Authority’s mandate to ensure that all public transportation services are being operated legally.
The offer, which was made in November 2016, includes 650 hackney carriages, 200 rural stage carriages, 5,034 route taxis, 50 contract carriage and 20 new routes.
According to the Authority, this offer seeks to satisfy the increasing demand for public transportation in Jamaica and to streamline the transportation sector to improve the general order in the sector.
