KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) has tabled a list of questions to Parliament about Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ recent trip to the State of Israel.

During the trip, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu told Prime Minister Andrew Holness that relations between the two countries are always friendly and they appreciate the fact that Jamaica did not join the recent vote against Israel.

Opposition spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Dr Moais Guy has tabled the following questions:

1 Can the prime minister tell the Parliament the reason for his visit to Israel?

2 If the reported purpose of the visit was to explore technical cooperation in the areas of water, agriculture and domestic security, will the prime minister say whether the trip has reaped any benefits to the country?

3 If the answer is in the affirmative, what are they?

4 Can the prime minister indicate the persons who accompanied him on his trip to Israel and their role in the delegation?

5 Does the visit to Israel signify a change in the Jamaican Government’s long standing policy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict specifically the country’s support for the two state solution?

6 If the answer is in the affirmative, can the prime minister say what is the current policy?

7 Does the absence from the vote of Jamaica at the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in October 2016 signify a change in the foreign policy in relation to Israel?

8 Did the prime minister make any political commitments or give any undertaking with respect to Jamaica’s policy position on Middle East issues?

9 If the answer is in the affirmative, what were they?

10 Did the prime minister make any commitments or give any undertakings with respect to CARICOM’s policy position on Middle East issues?

11 If the answer is in the affirmative, what were they?
