Baby among 2 killed in early morning fires in Guyana
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Two people, including a seven-month-old baby, died in separate fires on Monday morning, police in Guyana have said.
Police said they are investigating reports that the fire at Kaneville on the East Bank Demerara, which led to the death of Romains Seth, may have been deliberately set.
At least 10 people remain homeless as a result of the fire.
In the other incident, 59-year-old Thakur Singh, was trapped in the garage area of a two-storey building in the Diamond community.
Investigators are working on the theory that a stove, which was left unattended, may have triggered the blaze.
