THE local party vibes provide the inspiration for on-the-rise deejay FMB’s (Frassman Brilliant) single Welcome to Jamaica.

“Well, really it’s about the party scene in Jamaica. In the song I say: ‘Every day is a holiday in Jamaica’ and it’s true. I live overseas so I always have friends overseas who want to come here, but people only mention MoBay and the tourist sides, and not places like where I come from,” Frassman Brilliant told the Jamaica Observer.

“I want to open people to all of Jamaica and not just one part. We shot the video in several places like Negril, MoBay, St Mary, St Andrew, St Thomas and all over, to capture the real essence of Jamaica. I talk about my country all the time and I want to spread the music worldwide,” he continued.

The video was recently featured on video blog WorldStarHipHop.

Released in August last year and produced by Yard Style Entertainment, Welcome to Jamaica is the lead single from his upcoming seven-track EP slated for February 21. The set will be produced by NS Music Enterprise and MoutainLion Music JA.

“The name of it is The Real Nicoy and it will have a mixture of everything —from dancehall, real roots all the way to ska and even Caribbean music. I want to show my versatility as an artiste and it’s gonna have a different side of me that people wouldn’t expect, like recording with a live band,” he said.

Based in Connecticut, FMB (real name Nicoy Salmon) hails from the Rock Hill and Waltham Park areas of the Corporate Area.

He insists he does music which has an international appeal.

“Basically, I do music for the world. I want it to take me places I’ve never been. I want to break down barriers with my music. I do good music and hope for the best and leave the rest to the fans,” he added.

His other singles include Pop Off (produced by Connecticut’s Track Star) and Workey Workey (Barbadian producer Jon Deesy).
