Escapee from Denham Town lock-up recaptured in Negril
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The Negril Police in Westmoreland have recaptured 34-year-old Donovan Allen, who escaped custody from the Denham Town Police lock-up in Kingston on Sunday, September 18, last year.
Police say that Allen was recaptured in Negril Square about 7:30 pm yesterday, while lawmen were on patrol in the area.
Allen was among the group of nine men that escaped custody through a ventilation grille at the lock up. He is the sixth escapee to be recaptured by lawmen while one of the prisoners, Ian McBean, was killed.
Those now recaptured are:
Richard Richardson, 22, otherwise called ‘Ritchie’ of Golden Heights, Denham Town, Kingston 14, who was charged for shooting with intent;
Stephen Burke, 23, otherwise called ‘Lucious’ of Hanover Street, Spanish Town, St Catherine, who was charged for affray, malicious destruction of property and assaulting police;
George Ballentine, 19, of Bedwood Gardens, Kingston 7, who was charged for murder and illegal possession of firearm;
Oshane Morgan, 19, otherwise called ‘Grey beard’, Oxford Street, Denham Town, Kingston 14, who was charged for robbery and illegal possession of firearm;
Alex Bailey, 23 of Majesty Gardens, Kingston 11, who was charged for murder and illegal possession of firearm; and Allen, otherwise called ‘Bitter’, of Johns Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine, who was charged for robbery with aggravation.
Meanwhile, two escapees are still at large. They are: Theodore Lawrence, 23, otherwise called ‘Theo’, of Baugh Path, Tivoli Gardens, Kingston 14 who was charged for murder; and Kevin Thomas, 26, otherwise called ‘Tatan’ of McKenzie Drive, Tivoli Gardens, Kingston 14, who was charged for wounding with intent and shooting with intent.
