138 Student Living opens door for summer accommodations
KINGSTON, Jamaica — 138 Student Living Jamaica Ltd (183 SL), the newest hall on the University of the West Indies, Mona campus said it will be offering a program to attract sport, church, overseas and other groups to its doorsteps during the summer.
They are aiming to open up their doors and offer alternate accommodation to different groups while the students are off for the summer, providing that they (groups) are not opposed to a communal setting.
The facility now has 1100 rooms and 1300 beds and come summer it will boast 1500 rooms and approximately 1700 beds.
138 SL, incorporated in Jamaica in August 2014 and listed on the main market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange after an IPO in 2015, was established to construct and rent living facilities at The University of the West Indies under a 65-year concession agreement.
The terms of the concession agreement require the company to design, finance, construct and operate 1,584 units of student accommodation in three development phases in not more than 48 months.
