The Choice is Yours
Lent is a Christian tradition observed by many denominations. It signifies the forty-day period leading to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Jamaica this starts a season of sacrificing red meat, eating more fish, more prayer and drawing closer to their Lord in remembrance of the sacrifice made. No matter your religion, denomination or belief we all have reason to be concerned about the current situation and we all have reason to be thankful. This season gives us the opportunity to look at the bigger picture, take stock of the blessings afforded us and for those who are less fortunate.
Ash Wednesday is only a few days away, this gives us a few hours to decide if we are making a sacrifice during this season and what will it be. It can be something major and impact to our lives and others around us or it can be something small that will help us grow as a person. Whatever the decision the choice is yours and yours alone.
As Jamaicans we are connected through a common thread, it cannot be stressed enough how important it is to look out for one another.
