Waterhouse hold rivals Arnett nil-all
Waterhouse FC continue to show all-round improvement, holding Arnett Gardens FC to a throbbing 0-0 draw in a key Red Stripe Premier League football third-round game at Drewsland on Sunday.
It was Waterhouse’s fifth-consecutive match without losing. The draw snapped Arnett Gardens’ two-game win streak. Waterhouse FC are ninth on 24 points and Arnett Gardens are sixth on 35 points.
“It was a very competitive game. When you looked at how the game was played and the tempo in it, I thought that both teams gave a very good account of themselves and it was a fair result,” said Glendon “Admiral” Bailey, the coach of Waterhouse.
His opposite number, Jerome Waite, also saw the game as a closely contested one.
“We should have won this game; Waterhouse created a clear scoring opportunity in the first half, in which our goalkeeper Omarley Francis was well positioned to make a point-black shot save. Outside of that, we created so many chances, which even at one point the upright saved Waterhouse from falling behind. That apart, I thought it an inspiring performance. Waterhouse and ourselves played with great passion and commitment,” reasoned Waite.
