Rosemount, Green Pond seek to progress in Heroy Clarke 50-Over
SPOT VALLEY, St James — Rosemount and Green Pond will go after a third-straight win to put themselves in strong positions to qualify for the finals of the St James Cricket Association’s Heroy Clarke-sponsored 50-Over competition, when they return to action in Sunday’s third round of matches.
Rosemount, who beat Thompson Street by one wicket at Barnett Oval on Sunday, will play Police at Spot Valley, while Green Pond, who were winners over Cornwall College by four wickets, will take on Water Lane at Green Pond.
In the other game, Thompson Street will seek to rebound from their loss when they take on Cornwall College, who have lost both games played so far, when they meet at Barnett Oval.
All games will start at 10:00am.
On Sunday, in a match-up of winners from the first round of games, Rosemount beat Thompson Street by one wicket, getting to 163 for nine wickets as they responded to Thompson Street’s 162 all out, with Kevin Ogle starring with three wickets and an unbeaten 31 for the winners.
Thompson Street, who lost the toss and was sent to bat, managed to get 162 thanks to 51 from Robert Johnson and 21 from Andrew Ramgeet against Kevin Ogle’s three wickets for 24.
When they responded, Courtney White hit 51 not out to lead Rosemount in their chase, Gavin Clayton added 35 against gallant efforts from Christopher Watson and Ainsworth Henry, who both took four wickets each.
Green Pond eased to a six wickets win over the schoolboys from Cornwall College, restricting them to 111 for six, after winning the toss then making 112 for six in reply.
Cameron Wedderburn top-scored for Cornwall College with 33 runs and Julian McFarlane made 29, as Romario Bennett and Carl Morris took two wickets each.
Errol Martin then scored an unbeaten 45 for Green Pond in their response as Jerome Daley and Clifton Russell both took two wickets.
In the other game at Spot Valley, Police were seven wickets winners over Water Lane after cruising to 78 for three, thanks to 46 not out from Courtney Allen, after skittling out Water Lane for 77, as Kelroy Haughton took seven for 35.
