Man allegedly caught on second trip to store with fake US dollar
A St Mary man who reportedly used a fake US$100 to purchase a pack of underwear from a store in downtown Kingston and returned two days later with another fake US$100 to buy more, has denied having counterfeit notes.
Javier Moore, 27, of Highgate pleaded not guilty to possession of counterfeit notes when he appeared in court last Thursday and his bail was extended for him to return to court on April 26.
According to police reports, on February 21 Moore went to the Ammar’s store and tendered the US note for the item. Further reports are that the sales representative checked the note and accepted it as an authentic one, cashed Moore’s purchase, and he left.
However, the sales representative reportedly checked the note again and realised that it was fake. On February 23, Moore reportedly returned to the store with another fake US$100 and attempted to purchase a pack of underwear but was held by security guards after the store person checked the note and realised that it was not real.
The police were summoned and he was arrested and charged.
