SOMERTON, St James — Somerton FC made full use of home field advantage on Thursday to hammer Violet Kickers 5-0 in their St James Football Association’s Sandals International Division One return-round game.

After scoring just two goals in their previous four outings and drawing 0-0 with Violet Kickers in their first-round game at the UDC Field, Somerton FC exploded with five goals, four coming in the last 28 minutes plus extra time.

With the win, Somerton FC moved past Violet Kickers into second place in Zone One with nine points, trailing leaders Irwin United, who are on 13 points.

Marvin Ellis gave Somerton the lead in the seventh minute, but they had to wait until the 62nd minute to add to their lead when Ellis completed his brace.

Craig Pierce made it 3-0 in the 70th minute, Dwayne Anderson scored their fourth in the 75th, while Fitzroy Martin added the fifth, two minutes into stoppage time.

At the UDC field, Zone Two leaders Firehouse SC and Lane FC played out a 1-1 draw, the second time this season they finished with a tie, and both have now inched up to nine points each.

Romario Dent gave Lane FC the lead in the 12th minute and Rohan Cole equalised in the 25th.
