PORTLAND, Jamaica — The attached photo shows waves crashing onto a street in Buff Bay, Portland after heavy rains this morning.
Parishes in eastern Jamaica experienced heavy rains last night into this morning.
The Meteorological (Met) Office earlier issued a Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Mary, Portland and St Thomas effective until 5:00 pm today.
The Met Office said a cold front west of Jamaica along with a strong high pressure system over the north western Caribbean continue to influence the weather across the island.
Showers, which could be heavy at times, are expected to continue to affect sections of central and eastern parishes particularly St Mary, Portland and St Thomas this afternoon into tonight.
