Suspense declares hand
SUSPENSE, season 10 contestant of Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, delivered a thrilling performance at the season’s fourth live show held at D’Entrance on Constant Spring road in St Andrew, last Saturday.
The female act was following up on a strong live show two performance. The Magnum princess is hoping to further her music career and is intent on achieving her dream.
“I have the drive, the passion, the motivation. I love fashion and music, and I just love entertaining, so I know this is what I want to do. I have been here before, but this time I intend to take the crown,” said Suspense, who delivered her composition The Baddest Female DJ.
She had previously entered the competition in 2013 and placed in the top 12.
“I know what I want and music is that. I have been pursuing music ever since the birth of my son. I used to do promotion and dancing and I would have to wear certain outfits, but when my son was born, I decided then that this is not the image I want him to see of his mother. Now when he turns on the TV and sees me he can feel proud to say: ‘See mummy deh’, and that is my biggest drive.”
Suspense, whose real name is Shanekia Morrison, is a compliance officer at the state-run Kingston and St Andrew Corporation. She holds an associate degree in Tourism and Entertainment Management from Excelsior Community College in Kingston.
In addition to Suspense, Castle Blue Princess Ali Ferrari gave a well-received set. On the male side, it was a night of high-octane performances as the Princes, Vanzo, Caano, Movack, D’Element and Compass all delivered great performances.
The competition continues next Saturday with contestants from Castle Red taking the stage to show off their talent. The season 10 Magnum King and Queen winners will each receive $1,500,000.
