With two weeks to go before dancehall deejay Alkaline performs for the first time locally in almost three years, the organisers of Magnum New Rules are preparing themselves for what they are projecting will be a major event.

“This will be the biggest show in Jamaica. We have a great line-up which includes Taurrus Riley, I-Octane, Mavado and Jahmiel,” said Sandré Malcolm of Brownstone Marketing and Entertainment Management.

Tamika West of the sponsors Magnum Tonic Wine, told the Sunday Observer that her product just had to be a part of the event.

“Magnum New Rules is the single most highly anticipated moment in dancehall and we couldn’t see the show happening without the drink of Dancehall, Magnum Tonic Wine. With a powerful line-up of international dancehall heavy hitters like Shaggy and Mavado, this show is a major pull factor.”

Alkaline is also ready to perform for his local audience.

“It’s been a while since I’ve graced a stage in Jamaica, so I’m definitely looking forward to a great show and performing for my fans who have been supporting me throughout. Bless up,” Alkaline said.

Alkaline whose given name is Earlan Bartley, made headlines recently after being sought for questioning by detectives in regards to the murder of Rohan Morris. He was questioned and later released.

New Level Unlocked, his 15-track 2016 album, was executive produced by DJ Frass and is ranked by Billboard as the 3rd best Reggae album of 2016. It features hits like Conquer the World, City and Champion Boy.

Magnum New Rules, first advertised in January, is being promoted by for March 25 at the National Stadium car park.
