Transport Authority opens doors for PPV operators on Sundays
The Transport Authority says it will open motor vehicle examination facilities on Sundays during March, to facilitate the examination process of public passenger vehicles (PPV) to meet the licensing renewal or reapplication deadline of March 31, 2017.
The authority’s Acting General Manager of Human Resources and Administration Petra-Kene Williams said in a release yesterday that the various examination facilities across the island will open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on March 19 and March 26.
The release stated that customers may access examinations at the Northern Regional Office in Tower Isle, St Mary and Lakes Pen, St Catherine pounds on March 19, and at the Lakes Pen, Montego Bay Transportation Centre on Barnett Street, and Hatfield Pound in Manchester on March 26.
According to the release, the extension of opening hours for motor vehicle examination is part of the Transport Authority’s thrust to provide convenient and efficient service to customers.
“Under this facility, licensees are not required to pay the motor vehicle examination fee upfront, as the fees will be collected upon submission of their applications for renewal of their road licenses,” the release stated. “The authority is urging operators to apply for their road licence on time and avoid paying the late fee, which takes effect April 1, 2017.”
