Man serving 18-month sentence for fraud gets second conviction
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man serving an 18-month prison sentence for uttering forged documents and conspiracy to defraud, was again convicted last Thursday for uttering forged documents after he pleaded guilty in the St Andrew Parish Court.
Llewellyn Samuels was on September 2, 2016 sentenced to 18 months on each charge to be served concurrently, along with a co-accused Delroy Matherson who was sentenced to two years on each charge, also to be served concurrently.
Samuels, however, faced the court again last week and pleaded guilty to another charge of uttering forged documents. He is to be sentenced for the second conviction on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a man, Brenton Henry, was on the same day found guilty of breaches of the Customs Act.
Reports from the Revenue Protection Division (RPD) are that Henry’s conviction concerned a long running court battle between himself and the RPD over the importation of a BMW motor vehicle.
He is to be sentenced on May 11.
