Kingston mayor to participate in Miramar town hall meeting
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams is set to address members of the Jamaican Diaspora on Miramar, Florida after receiving an invitation to participate in a town hall meeting tomorrow.
Williams’ invitation came from Mayor of Miramar, Wayne Messam.
While there, Williams is expected to discuss the possibility of a Sister Cities Agreement.
Williams, who will be accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation, Robert Hill Jr, will also be sharing his vision for Kingston, accepting questions, and “driving home the importance of the Diaspora in the development and sustainability of the city”.
Earlier this year a similar agreement was signed with the City of Birmingham, Alabama, and discussions are already underway regarding student programmes and cultural exchanges.
With Miramar having a much higher concentration of Jamaicans, it is the vision to engage them on investing in the growth of Kingston and being a part of the Jamaican city’s emerging tourist market.
