Sagicor launches Pro-Millennial Mentorship Society
Sagicor Jamaica last Tuesday launched a mentorship society for its young professionals which, the company said, will build a dynamic and interactive community of emerging leaders aged 35 and under.
“The Sagicor Jamaica Pro-Millennial Mentorship Society deliberately moves away from the traditional one-on-one mentorship style and will utilise a combination of both group mentoring and peer-to-peer mentoring,” a company news release explained.
“This will be facilitated by monthly meetings that will be broken down into networking sessions, topical discourses and symposiums to facilitate interactions between the pro-millennials and mentors of their choice from a list of Sagicor executives and select industry leaders,” the company added.
“The programme will mainly focus on six areas of impact — leadership, personal branding, communication, financial management, interpersonal skills, and community service.” The aim is to help them excel in their current role and guide them to advance their careers, by creating an atmosphere of exposure and opportunity.”
Addressing the launch at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Karl Williams, senior vice-president, group human resources and corporate services, Sagicor Jamaica, said that pro-millennials make up a large population of the company. According to Williams, young team members present a gold mine of opportunity and potential that are necessary to propel the company.
