Harmony clip Baca Star to lift mid-season trophy
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Harmony FC won the mid-season final in the Trelawny Football Association’s Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League on Sunday after beating Baca Star United 2-1 at Elleston Wakeland Centre.
Troy Smith scored both goals for Harmony FC, who will go into the cross-zone round as the top team after they finished the first round with 25 points to Baca Star United’s 24.
Smith, a former national player at several levels, gave Harmony FC the lead in the ninth minute when he converted from the penalty spot, then added a second in the 40th minute to give his team a 2-0 half-time lead.
Hubert Christie pulled one back in the 66th minute to set up an interesting final 24 minutes of the game.
Meanwhile, in the Division One final, Friendship FC thrashed Upsetters FC 5-0 in the first game of the double-header.
Marcus Ellis scored a first-half double for Friendship, netting in the sixth and 36th minutes, while Jermaine Dixon in the 58th minute, Garel Gooden in the 73rd minute, and Alex Barrett in the 77th minute added goals in the second half.
