A man who reportedly used a stone to hit another in his head, knocking him to the ground, told the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last week that it was the complainant who first attacked him and that the complainant has being harassing him ever since he gave him some guns to do “some things” and he returned them without doing the job.

The accused, Nadash Douglas, who pleaded not guilty to unlawful wounding, told Senior Parish Judge Andrea Pettigrew-Collins that the complainant is a “don” who has been provoking him since he returned his weapons.

On the day in question, he said he went outside his house to collect some juice when the complainant threw Heineken beer on him and attacked him with a stone.

But in an interesting twist, the complainant in his statement said he was attacked after he saw the accused pull a gun from his waist.

The court heard that on March 9 about 9:00 am, the complainant was in his community of Cassava Piece Road when he saw Douglas pull a weapon from his waist and he responded by saying: “If a did somebody else dem would a call police, and you would see police a swarm down.”

Two days later, the complainant was on the roadside talking to someone when Douglas reportedly approached him and said: “Bwoy say nutten now and see if mi nuh mash out yuh face.”

The complainant reportedly replied: “If yuh do that yuh wud a see wat wud a happen,” following which the accused reportedly flung the stone and hit him in his head, which caused him to fall.

Judge Pettigrew-Collins, after listening to both accounts, told the complainant that she hopes the police will check him out.

But Douglas told her that he has already made several reports to the police that the complainant has been molesting him.

The matter was subsequently rescheduled for mention on April 24 and Douglas’ bail was extended.
