UPDATE: Suspect in St Andrew Prep shooting incident charged
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are reporting that the man who turned himself in after a shooting incident at the St Andrew Preparatory School on Wednesday has now been charged.
Charged with two counts of assault is 22-year-old Kwame Smith.
He was charged on Saturday.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) on Thursday said Smith would be questioned in the presence of his attorney before charges were laid against him.
Chaos erupted at the preparatory school after a woman was reportedly held up at gunpoint at the school gate. She was dropping off her child about 8:20am when the gunman struck.
He escaped after a licensed firearm holder fired several shots in a bid to thwart the attack.
